MULHALL, Okla. — The new Lucille’s restaurant in Mulhall opened about a month ago, and the bikers are back. “The word of mouth has been phenomenal,” restaurant owner Don Harman said. Customers have had to wait for a table every Friday and Saturday night since the restaurant reopened in this small town, where the only other businesses are a bar and a steel company.

Mulhall brothers to reopen Lucille’s – Van Mitchell Special to The Sun

After an F4 tornado devastated their town in 1999, residents decided to rebuild the community.

Lucille’s Makes a Comeback!

Lucille’s Restaurant in Mulhall is making a comeback. The famous restaurant that was destroyed by fire three years ago is being rebuilt. Dan Harmon and his brother Chris bought the restaurant and are building a newer, bigger version on a new site, across the street from the old location.

In an interview with The News Leader, Dan Harmon said, “We are geared up to make-up for the deficiencies in the old restaurant. We will have patios on both ends of the building. Our hope is people will have a place to relax before and after dinner. It was killing us to see the old building go to waste. It is a landmark place and we are going to honor it appropriately.”

Harmon went on to say, “We tentatively plan to have a Grand Opening on September 9, 2011. That would be the third anniversary of the fire. We will have a soft opening in August, so we can work the bugs out. We will be open Thursday-Sunday, but we are not firm on our hours yet. It is our hope that we can do a Sunday morning breakfast for the various visitors we have come through town on Sunday’s.”

The menu will include steaks, chicken, desserts and a large salad bar. There will also be a wide variety of hamburgers and hot dogs for carryout and patio dining.
“Phase two of our plan includes remodeling the old bank building where Lucille’s was previously located,” Harmon said, “We have many surprises for that building. We are hoping to incorporate some type of museum that will honor the Mulhall family and Lucille in particular.”

The Harmon’s have also bought property along the highway for a parking lot.

Mulhall landmark Lucille’s to Reopen This Summer – By Anita Pere

MULHALL, Okla. — Mulhall natives Don and Chris Harman couldn’t stand the thought of their hometown without Lucille’s restaurant, a history-rich biker hotspot destroyed by a September 2009 fire.

“It just made us sick not seeing anything happen here,” said Don Harman while standing outside the old building at Main Street and Baty Avenue.
